Walking The Entire Length Of Manhattan
A 19-mile journey through Little Dominican Republic, Times Square, West Village, and more.
Today, for some strange reason, me and three friends walked from Inwood, the neighborhood at the very top of Manhattan, to Battery Park on the very bottom of the island1. The walk, on paper was 13 miles, but after all of our various detours, our total was a whopping 19 miles!
We explored new neighborhoods, saw some historic landmarks (Grant’s Tomb (couldn’t figure out who was buried inside, though), The Met Cloisters, and The Dakota (the building that I shot John Lennon outside of)
Here are some stats from the trip:
We walked 19.3 miles, or 42,700 steps.
We walked in/near at least 4 college campuses (The City College Of New York, Columbia University, Fashion Institute of Technology, Tuoro College, and maybe even some other ones that we didn’t even realize we were passing).
In total, we ate 15 slices of pizza.
We drank, in all likelihood, more beer than water.
We each only had two beers, which should put into perspective how little water we drank the entire trip.
The journey was an absolute blast, and a great reminder of the abundance of beauty constantly around all of us! Even in our own cities, there are still always plenty of new nooks and crannies to explore and take advantage of.
That is an amazing corner.
