Overall, I very much enjoy working from home. Snacks are readily available, the commute is reasonable, and the dress code is lenient. There are some negative aspects of working from home, though, a few of which I’ve outlined below.
Sometimes pigeons fly into the courtyard1 of my apartment and can’t escape so they just spend the entire day awkwardly flying from windowsill to windowsill, nervously shitting on each one.
The guy who lives across from my window also works from home and sometimes, if we both try to look outside at the same time, we make eye contact, which isn’t fun for either of us.
That same guy also really enjoys playing the guitar at an amateur level during the work day.
One time I audibly farted while on a Zoom and I wasn’t muted.
If you’re picturing a fancy courtyard with flowers and a fountain, let me stop you right there. By ‘courtyard’, I mean a small, dark area where all of our trash bins reside. Rather than roses, this place smells like a sewer.
