New Restaurant Challenge
ACTION REQUIRED!!
Today’s newsletter is going to be a bit unorthodox and, hopefully, very fun for both me and you.
New York City, as you all know, is a pretty massive place. There is so much to see, so many interesting people to meet, and, perhaps most notably, so many incredible places to eat.
It would be impossible to eat at all of the fantastic restaurants that this city has to offer, but I have created a challenge that will force me to try a completely random restaurant tonight, with the help of all of you lovely subscribers.
New Restaurant Challenge:
Here’s the deal.
After work wraps up this afternoon, I am going to walk out of my apartment onto the sidewalk. From there, the rest of my walk will be dictated completely by you guys. Each of you is allowed to give me up to 5 general directions on where to go (LEFT, RIGHT, or STRAIGHT). In the order that you leave your comment, I will follow those directions block-by-block until there are no more comments left to follow1.
At the end of the path, I will find the nicest restaurant on that square block and eat dinner there.
This is a challenge that I’m super excited about! I could find myself at some fancy Michelin Star restaurant (my wallet is really hoping that this isn’t the case) or I could find myself at some hole-in-the-wall burger joint.
Tomorrow I will write a restaurant review of whatever place I wind up.
Some more miscellaneous rules:
I dislike sushi so that won’t be included when considering where to eat.
I won’t go somewhere that I’ve been before.
I’ll ask the waiter what they recommend and I’ll strongly consider getting it (unless it sounds gross).
Feel free to email me with directions if you don’t have a Substack account… but also, get a Substack account so that you can like my shit.

So to reiterate the rules, each person can comment up to 5 directions (either LEFT, RIGHT, or STRAIGHT) for me to follow.
For example: LEFT, STRAIGHT, STRAIGHT, RIGHT, LEFT.
I will then compile those directions and find a restaurant from there.
