BeReal: Newsletter Edition
Writing about whatever I'm up to when my BeReal goes off.
BeReal, for those of you who are unfamiliar with the app, is a social media platform that sends you a notification once per day. After the notification goes off, you are supposed to document what you are doing at that very moment. Most posts tend to capture the minutiae of day-to-day life, with users taking photos while they are at work, laying in bed, or out on a walk.
Sometimes, though, the BeReal goes off at the exact right moment and captures the concert, baseball game, or party that you are at in the most satisfying light.
Tomorrow, when my BeReal goes off, no matter what I’m doing, I am going to stop and write my newsletter about whatever task I happen to be up to at the time. Perhaps I’ll be out to lunch and my newsletter will be a detailed restaurant review of the deli around the corner that I frequent on weekdays. Or perhaps the BeReal will go off during a work meeting, in which case I’ll happily divulge all of the top secret client information being discussed1.
Whatever it is, I will do my best to keep it as real as possible.
This is a joke, in case my clients are big fans of Toilet Read.
