The Reason That I’m Unimpressed With Los Angeles
For the past two days I’ve been in Los Angeles, California. This is my first time ever in California and, for the most part, I’m loving it out here. The weather is predictable and pleasant, the mountains make for a beautiful backdrop, and the people that we’ve met so far have been incredibly friendly and welcoming.
And yet, I haven’t been surprised or impressed by a single thing out here in LA, and the reason why is that I’ve seen it all in the video game Grand Theft Auto V. For those of you who haven’t played GTA 5, the game takes place in the fictional city of “Los Santos”, which is basically a street-for-street recreation of Los Angeles, including every landmark, beach, mall, and mountain that the city has to offer.
As a result, I feel like I’ve pretty much been here before. To make matters worse, the traffic here in Los Angeles is pretty awful at times, an issue that is completely obsolete in Grand Theft Auto because you can just weave around cars, steal the fastest vehicles, or fly places in helicopters and then skydive to your final destination, leaving the helicopter to plummet down to the ground below.
All in all, LA is pretty great, but the real kudos belong to the people who created Grand Theft Auto V.
