I am currently sitting in the Union Square Barnes and Noble. Sometimes it’s nice to have a change of scenery while writing this newsletter. Today, though, is not one of those times. Also in the Barnes and Noble Cafe, you see, is an incredibly spirited 5-year-old boy who is running around my table, screaming, and crawling around on the filthy floor.
Naturally, this got me thinking of the top 5 dirtiest places in New York City— the spots that, if I ever had a child, I would absolutely forbid them from running amok. Thankfully for this kid (and his parents), this Barnes and Noble, all things considered, is pretty clean.
The top 5 Dirtiest Places in New York City are:
The public bathrooms in Tompkins Square Park
The floors and seats of all subway trains
Inside the mind of Rudolph Giuliani
Literally any sidewalk on trash day
Lucy’s (a ~no frills dive bar~ in the East Village known for its particular lack of frills, pictured below)
The citibike station across from the Target on Ave A and 14th
