Today I decided to start charging money ($5/month) for my Substack Newsletters… Well, kind of.
It might sound counterintuitive, but the goal isn’t necessarily to make money, but rather to increase traffic to the page. When you go to Substack’s ‘Discover Page’, where many readers go in order to find new publications to sign up for, oftentimes the paid newsletters (the ones that cost money) are prioritized pretty heavily over the free publications.
So, I figured that if I became a “paid publication”, I would get more organic traffic as a result… does that make sense?
Anyway, let’s talk about how this impacts YOU!
Well, frankly, this shouldn’t really impact you very much! I write 7 newsletters per week, and I’m going to start by placing only the WEDNESDAY posts behind a paywall.
